Kailash FAQs

You can enter Lhasa if you are living anywhere in China. You just need to send us your passport copy and Chinese visa copy. You will get your permit in China, and with that, you can enter Lhasa. Getting to Tibet/ Lhasa from anywhere in China is either by Air or by Train. 

The duration of the trip depends on the chosen route. 

  • Overland Route: 14 Days 
  • Helicopter Route (Ex-Lucknow): 10 Days
  • Helicopter Route (Ex-Kathmandu): 12 Days
  • Lhasa Route: 16 Days
  • Lhasa – Ali Route: 11 Days

The cost of the Kailash Yatra depends on the route chosen and the standard of accommodation available at the places. Touch Kailash Team will inform you about the costs, along with other details. Just contact us. 

The age limit for Indian Passport holders is 69 years. However, there are no age limits for foreign passport holders.

The process is as follows: 

  • Touch Kailash Team requires your passport copy 1 month before the departure date to apply for the Tibet Travel Permit.
  • After receiving the permits, original passports are required for the Tibet visa. Tibet issues Paper Group Visas. 


Indian Passports are required at our Delhi Office one week before the Departure Date. 

Foreign Passports are required in Kathmandu prior to three working days in Kathmandu. 

If a Chinese Visa is already issued in the passport, the visa is canceled automatically when a Tibet Visa is applied for in Kathmandu, since Tibet Entry cannot be made by China Visa. 

* standard, 4*standard, and 5*standard hotels are available in Nepal side, whereas in Tibet side, the accommodation is upgraded to guest houses in all regions from tents. Twin sharing basis in Nepal side, group sharing with a common bathroom in the Tibet side. 

Three Pure Vegetarian meals will be provided per day. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Yes, drinking water is provided. We recommend that you carry a flask to carry warm water. 1 liter or more of water per day during the trip is recommended at high altitude. 

All ground transportation will be done on private vehicles. 

Nepal: A/C coach will be provided during the sightseeing, while Kathmandu to Kerung (overland route) will be on a Non-A/C coach, due to off-road conditions. 

Tibet: The Tibetan side transportation is on comfortable A/C coaches.

Payments for the trip can be made securely with Bank Transfers, Wire Transfers, Debit/ Credit Cards, Cash, Western Union, Global IME, and so on. We recommend carrying some Chinese Yuan as other currencies are not accepted in Tibet side to buy any souvenirs or Pony Service.  

The Pony/ Horse, Horseman, and Helper during a 3-day parikrama costs Chinese Yuan 3600.00 per person, which is equivalent to approximately. INR 37000, which is to be paid to the horse owner at Yamadwar/ Tarboche Valley during the first day of Kora, and is not included in the Tour Cost.

You can exchange it at some local money exchange units in Thamel market, or contact us for exchanging currencies. 

The most common sickness during the trip is altitude sickness. Our specially catered itineraries include ample acclimatization, which automatically minimizes the risk of altitude sickness.

Our team of guides and helpers is all medically trained, and all of them carry a first aid kit with them and regularly monitor the pulses and oxygen levels. 

In case anyone falls sick, they are halted at the place with a helper, and the other members continue on the trip. If the situation worsens, the person is taken to the Chinese hospitals, then brought back to the Nepal-Tibet border, and then, as per the situation, they will be brought to medical attention either on a jeep or by a helicopter. Any emergency procedure or any medical insurance is not covered in the cost.
