Cycling Tour is a great way to explore the Kathmandu Valley in a single day. The valley offers a day tour for all levels of riders. The ride offers us an opportunity to get along with the local culture and tradition of the Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu Valley is filled with ancient temples, shrines and historical sites. Through this tour, we will be able to explore the rich culture, tradition and lifestyle of the valley and its people.
Our tour starts with a cycling trip to Chobhar which is located some 9 kilometres south of Kathmandu. This place is also called the Chobhar Cave which is also the third-largest cave in Asia. An ancient tale or as we can say a mythical legend revolves around the place. It is believed that goddess Manjushree cut a gorge to drain away from the water and establish a habitable land in the Kathmandu Valley. We will visit the top of a hill to visit the temple of Adinath Lokeshwor Mandir sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. The temple is dedicated to red Machhendranath and is believed to ensure a happy marriage when utensils are fixed to its walls. Another temple we will visit is the Jal Binayak Temple, one of the four important Ganesh shrines of the Kathmandu Valley. Both temples offer great landscapes views of the valley. We will then pedal towards the town of Kirtipur, one of the five municipalities of the valley. The town contains ancient style narrow streets and houses with old shrines and temples in every corner. We will be able to explore the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the local Newars through this tour.
