Kailash Tour

Kailash Tour is a kind of yatra for pilgrims from all over the world. Kailash is believed to be a holy place for Hindu, Buddhists, Jains, and Bon. Not only pilgrimage, naturally reach Kailash is visited by thousands and thousand peoples every year. Most of the visitors are from India, Hindu and religious people. They take this tour as the Kailash Yatra. The best season for the Kailash Tour is from May to September every year. The best operation season and easy access from this tour is from Nepal, Kathmandu. Normal Kailash Tour takes 13 days, which includes three days of Kailash Kora/ Parikrama/ Round.

Kailash lies in the western side of the Tibetan autonomous region, which is Ngari state. Lots of immigrants are form from the Tibetan government on the way, which is tightly followed. A visa and permit are necessary for the Kailash Yatra or Kailash Tour. The Tibet travel permit and visa are not issued personally. It is a group visa and arranged by government license holder travel agent. Travel agents should also be involved and familiar with the China Indian Pilgrimage Service Center of Tibet (CIPSC).   

Kailash Tour can be run as an overland tour or a helicopter tour from Nepal. The main entry and exit point is the Kodari border for overland, and the Hilsa border is for the helicopter tour. Road via Kodari border is well paved on both sides of the countries, Nepal and Tibet. A well-paved road goes up to Mount Kailash base, Darchen. Darchen is the point to start the Kailash parikrama. Before Darchen, you will visit and stay overnight in Lake Mansarovar, which is also part of the holiest. People take a bath and perform ritual activities at the bank of Manasarovar.   

The maximum high altitude of this trip is 5613m from sea level, at the Dolma La pass during the Kailash parikrama. Peoples having sugar and high blood pressure is much higher risk on this trip. People have to cross several high passes over 5500 miter by driving and sleep more than 4000 miter high altitude for at least 5 days. Accommodation for this trip is very basic, and toilet facilities are very poor. People have to choose a good and established travel agent for a successful Kailash Tour.
