Mount Kailash is a Himalayan peak that lies in western Tibet. The peak is very pointed and looks like a pyramid piercing the sky.  With an altitude of 6600 meters (21645 Feet), Mount Kailash is known as a holy site among Hindu, Buddhist, and Bon. According to Hindu mythology, Mount Kailash is the residence of Lord Shiva. Buddhist believes that Kailash is the home of the Buddha Demchok, who represents supreme bliss.  According to Jainism, Kailash is known as Mount Ashtapada and is the site where the founder of their faith, Rishabhadeva, attained liberation from rebirth. For the Bon religion, Mount Kailash is a place of spiritual power. Nobody is allowed to climb Mount Kailash. All the religion believes it would be a serious act of sacrilege to set foot on its slopes.

Mount Kailash lies near the source of some of the biggest rivers in Asia. The Sutlej River, The Bhrahmaputra River, The Indus River, and the Karnali River. Next to the mountain, there are two of the biggest lakes. Lake Manasarovar, with an altitude of 14,950 feet, is believed as holy lake. Manasarovar is filled with the highest body of fresh water in the world. Bathing in Lake Manasarovar will bring salvation to people. Another Lake Rakshas has also legendary significance.

Every year, thousands make a pilgrimage to Kailash. Pilgrims believe that circumambulating Mount Kailash will remove sins and bring good fortune. The pilgrimage around the sacred mountain is called the Kailash Kora of Kailash Parikrama. Thousands of people make a visit to Kailash Manasarovar every year.
